Up, up and away

St. John’s to Toronto

As I write this, I’m on the first of three flights before arriving in Taipei. The Group Study

Exchange, traveling to the other side of the world… It’s all much more real now. Yeah I know, it’s about time, right?

Thank heavens I took yesterday off from work to finalize packing and take care of some last minute things. Even with that bit of extra time, I really needed a lot more.

I didn’t really sleep last night and instead took an hour and a half nap. I’m overtired right now, but am hoping and planning to do the bulk of my sleeping on the flight from Toronto to Tokyo. We leave around 12 pm which is almost a full 12 hour difference with Taiwan. If I can sleep on the front end of that 15 hour flight, I’ll begin the challenge of resetting my biological clock on the right foot.

But obviously I’m not expecting to sleep for a solid 15 hours. I don’t think I’ve ever slept for that long… Even when I was an infant!

I’ve taken a quick look through the available movies. I’m thinking it’s been far too long since I watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit. And Amelie is still one of my favourite movies. Haven’t had a chance to see Bad Teacher yet either.

Posted on February 23, 2012 Posted in 2012, blog, GSE 2012, iPad2, Rotary, Taiwan, technology .

I case you didn’t know, we have a blog for our Rotary International Group Study Exchange that’s heading to Taiwan on March 1 (that’s only one week away! Eek!).

Please go and give it a visit: http://gsetaiwan2012.wordpress.com/

As part of my testing technology I want to use while away, my first post to the blog includes a video that I first uploaded to my YouTube channel.

Curious? check out the post now.

A friend has added a photo of you

Posted on February 15, 2012 Posted in 2012, Facebook, Social Media, spam, spammers and scammers, technology .

For a short period of time last night, a number of my Facebook friends thought my account had been hacked.

I was tagged in some pornographic photos that were major violations of Facebook’s Terms of Service.

What had actually happened was that a friend’s Facebook account was hacked and the hacking involved changing her profile picture and then posting photos on her wall and randomly tagging friends (which in turn, caused the photos to come up on my wall and also the friend feed of anyone who follows me). I didn’t get home last night until 9:50, so I’m lucky it didn’t happen earlier in the evening.

*Insert witty Valentine’s commentary*

Posted on February 14, 2012 Posted in 2012, Comics/Images, MR, NL, Sci fi, Silly, Toronto .

Valentine’s Day is upon us and I’m using today as an excuse to bring up a couple of things.

First off, I have to show you what is probably the most geek-tastic and epic gift that Matt has given me for Valentine’s to date…

Video test

Posted on February 12, 2012 Posted in 2012, blog, iPad2, Social Media, technology .

Testing video upload directly from my iPad. More testing to come as my trip to Taiwan quickly approaches. I’m planning to only take my iPad2 and not have a laptop.

This is a video from today’s IceCaps game. B.Maxwell scores by hitting to puck off of the goalie’s back.

I want to read about…

Been there, done that
