I wrote that when?

Posted on January 11, 2019 Posted in 2019, blog, Tourette Syndrome .

There are so many things I want to write about, but alas there are only so many hours in the day and many of those are dedicated to being a mom, an adult, or squeezing in some sleep.

I just did a quick skim through some draft blog posts. Looking at them with fresh eyes, I honestly can’t understand why many are still in draft format and were never published.

No wait, that’s not completely true. I can guess WHY they were never published. Because something likely happened in the creative process where I felt like more detail or a photo was needed. I may have then become distracted and thought “I’ll finish this later” and then life happened.

I suspect there are a few different reasons why this happens and I won’t just try to blame it on a chronic case of procrastination.

Two years and a bunch of days

Posted on November 4, 2018 Posted in Baby, blog .

Good lord. It’s been over two years since I last updated by poor old dusty blog.

**Warning: as a means of overcompensating my embarrassment, I encourage you to read the majority of this post with a sarcastic tone/voice.**

I’m ashamed to say I cannot come up with an epic story to explain the reason for such a long dry spell.

I got nothing. Nada. Zilch.

Oh wait, may be I do have a few things…

MMXVI – What’s on the go?

Posted on December 31, 2015 Posted in 2015, 2016, blog, books, Holidays, iPhone photos, Knitting, KonMari Method, Macro, Photography, PR, Running, Tely 10 .

Last year I didn’t get around to doing a year-end/let’s set some goals for the New Year blog post.

In previous years I’ve tried to come up with some goals to try to accomplish and most have been tangible goals that could be classified as S.M.A.R.T. goals.

In no particular order, here are some things I would like to accomplish in 2016:

See ya later 2013

Posted on December 31, 2013 Posted in 2013, blog, books, Holidays, Nostalgic, Running, technology, Tely 10 .

So first off, I’ve been sick for the past few days and missed another Mommy Musing Monday post, but I’ll make up for that in the new year. Sometimes life and ill health happens.

Like most New Year’s Eves, it’s time for the usual reflection on the past year. I’m not one for setting resolutions exactly. I like to think of them as annual goals. Not full on SMART goals, but things I can realistically try to achieve within the 12 months ahead.

So lets review last year’s goals…

Social Media Crossover

Posted on May 6, 2013 Posted in 2013, blog, Facebook, Social Media, Twitter .

Early Sunday morning (although for me it still felt like Saturday because I had yet to go to bed and it wasn’t long after midnight…), I shared a photo that I took on Saturday of Matt and Miranda in honour of Star Wars Day (AKA May the Fourth be with you).

I managed to get picked up by NL Blogger’s Daily through a tweet I posted sharing the blog post. This is generated through paper.li and it’s a way you can create your own online newspaper. Once you set up some parameters, you can can automatically find, publish and promote articles, photos and videos from across the web. It’s an interesting concept and I’ve seen some various people using including some parenting bloggers and other industry-specific social media accounts (primarily on Twitter).

NL Blogger's Daily - May 5 2013 vm

NL Blogger’s Daily is something that Stephen Harris (@seliharris) of @NLBlogRoll has and I tend to give I quick look now and then since it’s a great list of local blogger updates.

It’s always interesting to see when social media channels crossover. I think it helps to keep conversations going. It adds an element of fluidity to the whole thing. Maybe you see a news article on Twitter and there’s a hashtag you can follow to read what others are saying. Then you pop over to Facebook and see other people talking, commenting and sharing information about the same topic. The conversation continues.

How often will I recall a piece of news I read, yet I’ll have difficulty remembering if it was originally read either in a news alert, an post on Facebook, a tweet on Twitter or on a website or online news service.

Sometimes this can cause repetition and a lot of noise. And often it can cause certain news stories to seem more important because people active in social media are either sharing the information at a higher frequency, or you just notice it more because you’re not hearing about the other stuff that’s floating around in the news world.

But don’t worry, I won’t let this go to my head. I’ll try to stay grounded and humble…

I want to read about…

Been there, done that
