Mommy Musing Monday – Santa Baby

Posted on December 23, 2013 Posted in 2013, Baby, Holidays, Musing Monday, Parenting, Photography .

My blogging is s little sporadic right now, but it’s a busy time is year for us with the holidays here.

Social gatherings and time with family are turned up to 11 and it’s my favourite time of year.

This is also Miss Moo’s first Christmas and seeing her react to so many new things and first experiences is a lot of fun.

Mommy Musing Monday – Left Foot, Right Foot

Posted on December 10, 2013 Posted in 2013, Baby, Musing Monday, Parenting .

This is going to be a short post. It’s that time of year where there are a million things to do, but we still only receive 24 hours in each day. I mean really, at least in Star Trek  they have 26 hour days.

What would you do with an extra two hours a day? Sleep? Lurk on Facebook? Actually do something productive? I bet most of us wish it would be either the first or last one, but it’s probably the middle suggestion that would win in the end. Or maybe the standard work day would just be extended.

Moving right along…

Missy Moo continues to be a very active and mobile baby. For the past couple of months, she has made it clear that she is eager to walk. She’s not quite there yet, but she certainly is determined!

Mommy Musing Monday – Chew on This Part 2

Posted on December 2, 2013 Posted in 2013, Baby, Products .

As mentioned in my previous post, today is a double update with a common theme.

Thank you Allie Brosh from Hyperbole and a Half for causing a meme where you can “X all the things”.

Yes, it’s true, Missy Moo is constantly chewing on things. If you read her a board book. she’s going to chew on it if you let your guard down for even a second.

Not even random toys are safe as shown in the photo on the left with her plush cucumber from the Ikea Duktig toy vegetables I mentioned in a previous post.

Someone is a BIG FAN of this baby safe necklace!

But I’ve discovered a great (and local) product that can help when our little one needs to chew and she’s up in my arms (because really, I need to keep all of my fingers; I can’t afford to sacrifice even one).

I recently bought some teething necklaces from a friend who also had her first child this past year. I’ve seen teething necklaces before, but they’re usually at least $40-50+ and I wasn’t convinced that it would be something our little miss would even want to nom on.

Since first trying out one of Jessica’s necklaces, I’ve bought more so that I can wear them with different outfits, depending on the colour and style I want.

I’m talking about Mère & bébé teething pearls. Jessica’s products are make with great care and each necklace can be customized based on what colour and size of pearls you want to have.

The teething beads are food grade silicon beads. They’re made from the same material as pacifiers. There’s also a non-toxic safety break away clasp (that my little miss has managed to force it to pop open, but in turn keeping her safe and me not feeling like she’s hanging me by a noose). The nylon cording is also very strong, but if you’re still concerned about beads breaking off, each pearl has a knot on each side of the cord.

These necklaces are definitely going on my list of things to buy a new mom. It’s a great baby shower gift that’s for both mommy and baby.

Below are a few different combinations and styles you can have (but really, there are lots of options depending on what you want).

Mommy Musing Monday – Chew on This Part 1

Posted on December 2, 2013 Posted in 2013, Baby, Musing Monday, Parenting, Products .

Since there was no update last week, I’m going to share a two part post today that has a rather obvious theme.

As some of you may know, our little Missy Moo has been teething hardcore. At nine months old, she already has eight teeth!

Due to this, our daughter constantly chews all the things…. Including her crib.

Yes her crib. Her brand new crib that was hundreds of dollars and is convertible so that it can be a double bed in the future.

Now I’m sure you’re thinking “Big deal. All babies chew. A few bite marks isn’t a big deal.” but feast your eyes on this…

Mommy Musing Monday – Cheese!

Posted on November 18, 2013 Posted in 2013, Baby, Family, Holidays, Musing Monday, Parenting, Photography, Xmas .

Well, the holidays are upon us. It seems like as soon as Remembrance Day has passed, the next holiday (primarily Christmas where I live) tends to dominate all retail locations, television commercials and soon Christmas songs will flood the radio stations.

Not everyone sends out Christmas cards, but it’s a tradition that I still really enjoy. Since our wedding six years ago, I’ve basically kept a list that’s updated from time-to-time and modified with additions and deletions.
