Curry Curry!

It is rather unfortunate, but we do not have an authentic Thai restaurant in St. John’s.

Matt was pretty devastated when he realized this sad fact; especially when we regularly went for Thai when we previously lived in Toronto.
BTW, if you haven’t been to Salad King, GO. Go now and enjoy its amazing deliciousness!!

My husband is an amazing cook and I’m pretty darn lucky. I’m doubly lucky because he makes a wicked Thai curry and his Indian curry is nothing to scoff at either.

On Sunday, after I had had a rather craptastic morning and the rest of the afternoon was rather low key, Matt suggested we have Thai curry for dinner. My immediate reaction was, “Yippie!”

Cherry Cheese Cake Callenge

Last weekend, I decided to try my hand at making a cheese cake for the first time.

It was Matt’s birthday recently and his mother always makes a cheese cake for special occasions; especially birthdays. But because we’re in Newfoundland and Labrador and his parents are in Ontario, it’s unlikely a cheese cake would have made it in once piece by Canada Post. I emailed my mom-in-law and told her about my plan: I wanted to make Matt a cherry cheese cake and needed her recipe.

The Right Words

On Dec. 3 I will have the joy of seeing Sarah Slean in concert at The Majestic in St. John’s. It’s been almost two years since I last saw Sarah in concert and I can’t wait to see her again.

 

She is by far my most favourite singer and I absolutely adore her. She has an amazing voice, an enchanting stage presence and leaves you feeling loved after every show.

 

I’ve had her latest CD Land & Sea for a couple of weeks now and am thoroughly enjoying both albums. But this past weekend, The Right Words from the Sea album was brought to my attention. It’s a song that can touch anyone and since last weekend, the song and its lyrics have been on my mind.

CCME 2011

On Friday I arrived in Toronto for the 2011 Canadian Conference on Medical Education. This is my first time at the annual conference and it should be an interesting experience.

Attendance usually consists of faculty, staff and students from medical schools across the country. There are various tracks and I’m attending the Resource Group on Institutional Advancement. Tomorrow I’m presenting a session titled Social Media and the New Normal: finding our way while protecting brand and reputation.

Well it’s happened. I have an iPad2 and guess what? I love it,

At this moment I’m in the lobby of the Sheraton in Toronto writing this using an app called Blogsy. So convenient and easy to use. Syncing up accounts like Flickr and YpuTube are painless. Very nice!
