Mommy Musing – Halloweening with teal

Posted on September 26, 2015 Posted in 2015, Food, Holidays, Musing Monday, Parenting .

It’s that time of year again. Fall is here and before we know it, Christmas and the holiday season will be here and we’ll be thinking about what we want to accomplish in the New Year.

But before that happens, we get to experience another holiday that continues to grow and for some people, it’s the greatest time of the year – Halloween.

Birthday Breakfast Sammich

Posted on May 27, 2014 Posted in 2014, Birthday, Food, Social Media .

Yesterday I saw a post where someone was asking about breakfast ideas on one of the Facebook groups where I’m a member. Some of the suggestions were the usual peanut butter on toast with banana, which is a regular staple for me. But then I saw someone mention they wanted to get a breakfast sandwich machine…

Wait, what?!?!

Mommy Musing Monday – Do you Know the Muffin Mom

Posted on January 27, 2014 Posted in 2014, Baby, Food, Musing Monday, Parenting .

I’m going to try and post more recipes that I’m cooking/baking for Missy Moo. Most of the recipes are perfectly fine for us adults to have, the only real difference I’ve noticed is that they often have less sugar and while there are often some tasty flavours, there isn’t anything too crazy or spicy.

For the most part, we give little miss some of whatever we’re eating. But on days when we’re having spicy Thai curry or something she may not be ready to sample, we’re trying out some new things. Oh and don’t for a minute think that I’m making everything she eats. There are some great pre-made stuff that’s convenient and not completely terrible (as in, there aren’t a lot of of preservatives and there are littler or no chemicals). So if you’re not making things for your little one, don’t feel bad. I’m confident it will not traumatize them and leave them full of hostility when they’re adults.

Gobble Gobble

Posted on October 13, 2013 Posted in 2013, Family, Food, Holidays, NL, Nostalgic, Ontario .

This weekend in Canada is our Thanksgiving weekend. While our American friends celebrate Thanksgiving at the end of November, we typically celebrate the second weekend of October.

The Monday of the weekend is a statutory holiday (yay long weekend!) and traditionally there’s a feast of turkey dinner and other traditional treats depending on where you live or what your family enjoys.

Mommy Musing Monday – Lots to lose, more to gain

Posted on October 7, 2013 Posted in 2013, Food, Musing Monday, Parenting, Weight Watcher's .

This post originally wasn’t going to be part of my Mommy Musing series, but I think it fits.

I’ve had past success with Weight Watchers (WW), both with losing weight and keeping it off, and at the end of April I signed up for WW again to help motivate and encourage me to get my baby weight off.

WW

I’ll confess that during my pregnancy I gained close to 60 lbs! I’m not ashamed of the weight gain. While I did enjoy onion rings and Diary Queen ice cream some days, I did eat fairly healthy for nine months. Heck, I ate so much avocado that I figured Missy Moo would be green when she was born! I also had a lot of swelling and water retention during the latter months of pregnancy (which hung on for a few months post-baby!).

When I signed up for WW again, I managed to already have around 20 of my 60 lbs gone on my own and I had it in my mind that I wanted to lose around 40 lbs while following WW.

I like the Weight Watchers program. It fits my eating preferences and habits and it’s a plan I can work into my regular life without feeling like I have to avoid everything I like.  Continue reading →
