Here we are. It’s New Year’s Eve (NYE) and 2012 is coming to a close.
Last year, I decided I wanted to set some resolutions/goals for myself. I tried to make some SMART goals that were measurable and also not to ambitious.
I’m rounding out the year with mix results.
Update my blog at least once a month…
Although updates were as usual sporadic at times, I think I did pretty well with this and was even able to try and cross-post blog updates that I wrote for our GSE Taiwan blog.
Read at least six professional books…
This was full of fail for me. I didn’t do well with reading and most of the books I’ve consumed in the last seven months have been baby or parenting related. Hopefully I can add more professional books to my reading list this year (or maybe I can get some audio books to listen to during late night feedings????)
Go to the gym more than twice a month…
This was another mixed results for me. Some months I was at the gym almost five times a week, but others like August and September, I didn’t make it through the door. While I was in Taiwan and Japan, I did enough walking to take care of any desire to go to the gym (including a fabulous walk through a bamboo forest that took the better part of an afternoon and I think we walked around 7 km?).
Even with my waxing and waning devotion to the gym, I did accomplish something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I ran the Tely 10 this year! Not only that, but I managed to do it in a time that was a lot better than any of my training – 1:53:39. And don’t forget, I was eight weeks pregnant at that time so there’s bragging rights in that… right?
I’m also going to play the pregnancy card for the mixed results because during my first trimester I was so tired that I would have given away every cent I owned if told I HAD to go to the gym. My energy is starting to nosedive again, but I’m hoping to get to prenatal yoga classes at Shakti Yoga at least once a week until Mini Middleton is here. And I definitely want to run the Tely 10 again.
Clean out my sock drawer…
Yes, yes, this was the low hanging fruit of my goals for 2012. I managed to take care of it, but now my sock drawer is starting to look a bit like last year. Perhaps this will becoming an ongoing annual goal…
Is there anything that 2012 brought to your life that was a game changer? Feel free to share the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Tomorrow I’ll post my goals for 2013. Keeping it simple again this year, but planning to tackle the next 12 months with even more drive and determination.
