I’m currently looking at options for blog updates and photo uploading while I’m in Taiwan and Japan in March and April.
I have to say that I’m not impressed with the WordPress iPad app. It doesn’t have a lot of options or features, and it isn’t very intuitive.
I’m pretty pleased with the Blogsy app and I’m writing this post on the iPad using the touchscreen keyboard. I’ll have a keyboard case to use as well, but short amounts of typing on the touchpad isn’t too bad.
A particularly keen feature in Blogsy is the photo uploader. I can add a photo directly from my iPad, or use on of the dock item options. That includes, a web browser to use within the app, my Flickr account, Picasa online account, my YouTube account… The list goes on.
This photo came from my Flickr account and was uploaded directly from the iPad after transferring photos from my DSLR Canon XTi (the original file was in RAW format).
Next up, it’s deciding on what to do for online backup/uploading. I have a paid Flickr account and may look into getting a Skydrive or Dropbox account. iCloud may be an option, but if you only receive 2G free… I’m not sure if that will be enough storage.
Anyone out there with online storage options?
I primarily use PCs, but will be using my iPad while away. I also don’t know what my Internet access will be on a day-to-day basis. Obviously it will be wifi, but there’s not guarantee it will be great (so uploading could take a while). Free time will be limited and there’s also a concern about programs crashing initial the middle of an uploading session.
