I did honestly experience moments of baby brain during my pregnancy. Maybe it was due to my random sleeping patterns during pregnancy, or maybe my crazy dreaming… who knows. All I know is that I had lots of brainfarts that would happen without any warning.

I was also warned that baby brain wouldn’t necessarily go away once our little miss was born. I just laughed during my pregnancy and thought, “Oh they’re just exaggerating I’m sure it won’t be that bad.” I was wrong. So, so wrong.

After Missy Moo was born, sleep was a luxury that I didn’t always get, but thoroughly enjoyed. But I’ll also admit that I’m very lucky because little miss is no where near what you’d call a bad sleeper. For quite a while she’s been sleeping through the night. Daytime naps are still a struggle at times, but night time sleep is something she will accept and enjoy.

So I can’t claim that it’s a lack of sleep that’s causing my brain to misfire and cause me to forget. You can laugh, but seriously, it happens on a regular basis. Just a few days ago I was bringing some things downstairs and even before going down the stairs, I was reminding myself that I needed to bring a specific thing upstairs. I probably made seven trips up and down the stairs. Did I remember the one thing I needed to bring upstairs? Nope. Not at all. I even remembered part way through my trips up and down the stairs… at least stair climbing is good exercise, right?

Now I should also mention that I actually experienced some brainfarting after I returned from my month in Taiwan. Between the lack of sleep and the action-packed, non-stop days, I honestly can’t remember certain days from that month. There are days and days that just run together and the only thing that separates them is the fact that I have photos that say so.

Ever since Taiwan, my memory hasn’t been fantastic. There are things I remember pre-trip and there are things I just can’t remember any more.

I don’t care what you say, baby brain is real. If you don’t believe me, then try asking anyone else who’s had brain cells robbed without warning.

So the next time you see a mom who’s frazzled, confused and mumbling about forgetting something, give her a break. She’s working with as many braincells as she can at the moment!

So here’s a funny fact – I almost forgot to update my blog today.
