As I mentioned in a previous post<\/a>, I’ve signed away my soul to receive some free products as a soon-to-be mom.<\/p>\n

Way back in September, I had something arrive from Similac Club<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I have to say, it’s really good! At first it reminded me a little of Ensure and some of the other meal replacement drinks out there, but it’s tastier, not too sweet, and doesn’t leave a weird chemical after taste.<\/p>\n

I definitely recommend drinking it cold.<\/p>\n

The sample I received was vanilla. There’s also chocolate and that’s what I decided to pick up as a six-pack with my $10 off coupon. The chocolate was pretty good, but I prefer the vanilla over the two.<\/p>\n

Now I know of a few friends who are not a fan of this product, but in my opinion it’s like a lot of things – a personal choice.<\/p>\n

I haven’t been drinking these on a daily basis and I never use them to replace a full meal. They’re actually handy to have during a busy afternoon at work when I want something quick that I can sip on and put back in my mini fridge if I want to save some for later.<\/p>\n

I found the marketing\/promotional materials included in the package to be interesting. They were very mom<\/em> focused – talking about what expecting mothers should consider in nutrition and how important it is for our growing babies. Never once did the letter or pamphlets mention baby formula.<\/p>\n

In January, I received another package from Similac, but this time it didn’t have a mom focus.<\/p>\n

\"20130123_214351.jpg\"<\/a>I personally want to exclusively breastfeed if possible, but I also know that sometimes there are problems, or it may not be possible for Mini Middleton and I.<\/p>\n

And there are times where doctors will recommend adding supplements to a baby’s diet if there are concerns about low weight gain. I have friends who experienced this and did both, or due to circumstances, had to switch to formula exclusively.<\/p>\n

Either way, if needed, I have these products for Similac that I can try. And if we find they’re unnecessary, I can always donate them to a local food bank.<\/p>\n

I’ve received other formula samples and those posts will be coming soon. It’s smart marketing for them to send samples to expecting mothers. If you manage to get in a new mom’s favour right out of the gate, it’s likely she’ll stick with your product if it was a positive experience. And when it comes to these sorts of products, brand loyalty is key for building, growing and maintaining their market.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
