Dear Missy Moo,
It was one year ago that after being woken up several times throughout the night, I was starting to guess that I was possibly in the early stages of labour.
So what’s a girl to do? Well, I drove Daddy to a yoga class and then went on to a scheduled massage I had that morning. My massage therapist was able to confirm that my back spasms (which was actually back labour), was likely a sign of baby on the way.
Since my appointment finished before Daddy’s yoga class ended, I of course went to Shoppers to pick up a few things… and actually had to stop and lean on something a couple of times. Ha ha – whoops! When I did pick him up, I suggested he drive home since my contractions at this point were around 40-30 minutes apart and I probably shouldn’t have been driving all morning.
And so it began. We took it easy for the rest of the day and didn’t go to the hospital until 7 p.m. (and I’m so glad we stayed home as long as possible!). It was at 3:27 a.m on Sunday, February 24th that you were born.
I remember so much from that day and I can laugh about a lot and think fondly of other things. You’re not supposed to brag or talk about having a good pregnancy (which I did) and it’s basically a cardinal sin to admit if you had a good labour/birthing experience (which I also did). But I did… we did; you were awesome little girl.
I don’t think I’ll ever post the nitty gritty details, but if anyone ever wants to hear about your arrival, I don’t mind sharing the ups and downs of that day. :) It was kind of a big deal for us because you were the prize at the end of it all.
Happy birthday eve baby girl. It’s been an amazing first year.
xoxo
Mommy
