The second half of this post’s title is of course from this song, by 50 Cent. There are two reasons for that title.
Last night I was at Walmart and found a Cozy Sun and Bug Cover. I’ve been thinking about getting something like this for Missy Moo because it’s possible we may have a warm summer with sun.
There’s also a concern about flies when at our summer home. The last thing we want is for our little one to get a sunburn or fly bites!
So any other new moms out there*, this is definitely a handy thing for summer!
*And if you’re in the St. John’s area, I was at the Topsail Road Walmart and they were on a rack of what may have been discontinued items near the baby section. They had both green and pink covers.
An online meme that I’m seeing more and more is Throwback Thursday (or #ThrowbackThursday on Twitter).
It’s inspired me to dig up some old photos. Some of the photos I’ll share will be ones that were in the wedding slideshow that Matt and I had back on 07-07-07 (or “Seven cubed” as we nicknamed our special day).
I’ve mentioned before that I’m formula feeding Missy Moo. I tried and tried to breastfeed, but C’est la vie, it wasn’t mean to be. End of story.
While there are lots of fun and silly stories about moms who have had awkward situations when breast feeding (read: leaking, baby trying to latch onto someone else, etc.), there are still misadventures for us formula feeding mommies.
Like every mom, you try to be on the ball. On deck and awake at all hours whenever necessary.
But sometimes when you haven’t had your cup of coffee this happens…
Which also results in this…
And then you have an area of your kitchen where it looks like the night after some junkies forgot to clean up after a night of blow.
But at least the kitchen smelled nice. Have you ever noticed that? Formula smells pretty sweet until you mix it with water. Then it’s chalk full of iron-smelling goodness smelliness. And sadly, when the formula is barfed up, it doesn’t smell nice and sweet. Which reminds me of a time when my childhood dog Muffin ate a bunch of coconut and when she barfed it up, the result smelled like cookies… but that’s a story for another day never.
Ever try to have a staring contest with a baby? Good luck with that.
I only noticed recently that my daughter doesn’t blink a lot. I was giving her a bottle one day and noticed a bit of eye goop floating around and thought, “If I just leave it alone, she’ll blink enough for it to move to once side of her eye and then I can wipe that sucker out.”
So I waited… and waited… but she wasn’t blinking.
I have to admit, it’s a little unnerving. I think I blinked more than enough for both of us because I was staring at her so much!
Just watch this video to see what I mean…
Oh and that eye goop… it eventually worked it’s way to one side and I was able to wipe it away. Mission accomplished. Mommy for the win.
