Mommy Musing Monday – Future Olympic Wrestler

I again will postpone the post that was for last week because it’s not that urgent and I have something more amusing to share.

It seems we may have a future wrestler in our house. She’s hilarious…

I guess we should be relieved to hear that wrestling has regained Olympic status. Matt has joked that we may have a future Olympian in our house. Although she’s getting pretty tall… would that be a disadvantage?

This was just one example of her roughhousing with veggies. She actually gets aggressive and pounces on them. It’s hilarious to watch. One minute she’ll grab her giant carrot and borrow her head into it as if giving kisses, the next she’s body slamming into the grown.

These stuffed toys come from the Ikea Torva line. When we first found out I was pregnant, I scoured the Internet looking for different nursery themes.

We wanted to go with something fairly gender neutral, but have the option to add certain things if we had a boy or a girl. I’m sorry, but I really love pink and red so if we were having a girl, she was going to get some pink and red touches. Just like I also love the colour blue and a little boy would have had some additional blues and earth tones added. I’m not about to get into a gender-colour debate because I have no issues with putting lots of blues on a girl and I think boys can wear pink and purple. In fact, Matt looks fabulous in both but the best I can do is get him to wear purple.

Anyhoo… when I found this theme, it was just before Matt mentioned the idea of going with a gardening theme of some sort. To which I replied, “Well it just so happens that Ikea has one and it’s perfect!” Since we’re both fans of Ikea and have enough family and friends who can get us things (including my parents who FILLED an entire suitcase with nursery things when they were in Calgary last year). And my in-laws, who live in Barrie, have been able to access Ikea goods for us too. So lets just say it didn’t take long to make the nursery look amazing.

Originally my hunch was that we were having a boy… but I was wrong and I love how we’ve done up Missy Moo’s nursery. I’ll post some photos of it another day.

Ikea Duktig vegetables set

We also have the Duktig vegetables set from Ikea that Missy Moo’s Aunti Heather, Uncle Colin and cousin Emily gave her when they came to visit in March. It’s so cute and she loves it! I normally keep the lettuce leaves away from her though because I’d rather her not try to eat them and possibly choke.

Hopefully all of this early healthy food exposure won’t cause her to have a rebellion against them later in life. Matt has always said he’d love to have a farm and when that’s said, I normally start singing the Green Acres theme song to him. Ha! Although I will admit that I wouldn’t mind having a little pet pig like Arnold Ziffel!
