You’re in the middle of a dream and things have gone from bad to worse. It’s clearly turning into a nightmare. Maybe you have the ability to wake up, but for a lot of us, you’re along for the ride until it ends or you’re somehow are jolted out of it.
I often have rather bizarre and fairly involved dreams. They’re pretty intense and lately my dreams have been turned up to 11 so to speak.
Last night I was dreaming and it started off with a standard weird set up. I was in another country with my immediate family (somewhere in Asia I think) and there was a memorial service (similar to what we may do on November 11). Oddly enough A LOT of my family was there and so were some people I recognized from high school who were in concert band throughout the years (I was a trumpet player back in the day). I noticed that lot of people (except for the band players) were wearing red and started exiting the big room we were in.
Suddenly I was overwhelmed with grief because apparently one of my cousins had recently passed away… but just in my dream. I’m not naming who it was and I prefer not to think about it!
I go to sit where I think my family will be. But they don’t show up because they’re all in red shirts and about to come in as a processional along with other people remembering those they’ve lost. I felt so alone and upset and started to cry I wanted to be there with them, but couldn’t understand why it wasn’t happening.
But then I realized I was dreaming and kept trying to wake myself up. Forcing my brain to realize that it wasn’t true and that everything would be alright.
It sort of worked. I woke up in bed and talked myself down; full of confidence that it was all a dream. I can’t remember the exact events after that, but let’s just say it took a little while before I because aware that something wasn’t quite right and then it hit me: I was still dreaming! I had had a dream within a dream!
This time I woke up and was back to reality. I was rather shaken up afterwards, but overall left unscathed.
Now it’s your turn: what’s the most bizarre dream you’ve had? Any opportunities to relive something that didn’t go quite right? Ever wake up from a dream questioning if it was something that really did happen? (That last one happens to me a lot)
I vividly dream, a lot.
Most of my dreams are “playful”.
But at times I see things, both good & bad in advance.
2 months BEFORE this event, I saw a flash of large mirrors and my grandma running down a hallway.
I woke up from the dream, puzzled, but thought nothing of it.
That is, until one day out of the blue, I got a call from the Miller center.
They moved mom to Chancellor without any prior notice to the family.
*Remember, I had never been at Chancellor before. Nor had I seen any pictures of it.*
I went over to Chancellor. Mom was on the 2nd floor. The only way up was via the elevator.
I hit the elevator button. *ding* — The doors open…
I hopped on the box car and immediately noticed something.
Mirrors surrounded me on all sides.
This was it. This is the place it’s gonna go down. Kinda freaked me out.
A few weeks went by, and my moms condition was deteriorating rapidly.
One morning my grandma called with a urgent message – I needed to go see Mom. NOW.
A blustery winter snow storm had shut the city down. Making the trek over all the more frustrating.
Eventually arriving to again, hit that elevator button to go up. Again, with the creepy mirrors.
Some time went by that day and my uncle’s flight got in from Toronto.
The family greeted him at the door, and we all waited around moms room.
Having our own suspicions without saying anything…
Eventually my uncle left for a hotel, and my grandma stepped out of the room.
At this point I’m alone with mom on the ventilator.
Suddenly I noticed something wasn’t right with mom. I stood up to hit the nurse prompt button.
The staff & grandma came running in…
With the last gleam in her eye, a single tear emerged down moms cheek.
Sure enough. Mom had passed peacefully that day.
I saw it before it happened.
Wow. Thanks for sharing. That’s really amazing! Dreams really can have amazing insight in to things that have happened and in this case, things that will happen.
Again, really appreciate that you’ve shared this experience. Take care!
